Therapeutic art, craft and ceremony

Working with female church leaders from Mothers' Union across South Sudan, we held various drawing, embroidery and ceremonial activities to improve wellbeing and unity within the group.

The embroidery work depicts everyone's favourite things about home - as a way to visualise a shared national identity and shared love of home.

The drawings are 'Wheels of Our Gifts' - each person creating a segment that represents their unique gift that contributes to peacebuilding in their community. Each wheel represents eight different women from eight different ethnic groups. Drawn from the biblical passage 1 Corinthians, Chapter 12, the wheels symbolise the power in diversity and inclusivity.
